Our values include empowerment, empathy, compassion and innovation.PROGRAM OBJECTIVE The Strong Minds program within our Community Initiatives Team is funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS) under the Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS) program. It services three funded locations within in Western and South Western Sydney (SA3) from our office at Auburn. This program offers early intervention supports to vulnerable families of children (birth to 18 years) who are at risk of or affected by mental illness to address risk factors and strengthen protective factors. Key aims include: improving children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, enabling them to better manage impacts of mental illness and increasing community understanding of and response to mental health issues affecting children and young people.MAIN DUTIES Through effective partnerships with key stakeholders, develop the capacity of children, young people and families through quality complex case-management and evidence-based groups (non-clinical).Working within a client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally appropriate framework, ensure delivery of support services that are aligned with Woodville Alliance' and Strong Minds' policies, procedures and funding requirements.Build a collaborative culture with other agencies, mental health services, NGO’s and families to plan, coordinate and negotiate services for Strong Minds clients including implementation of Family Action Plans and other documents.Undertake client advocacy, problem solving, case coordination and reporting as necessary to minimize harm to clients and others.Adhering to 'recovery orientated' principles, provide short term and long-term assistance to children, young people and families.Ensure that services and quality client assessments are delivered in line with FMHSS Program and other funding and organisational policies and procedures.Contribute to the development, continuous quality improvement and evaluation of family support strategies for children and young people by keeping up to date on research and best practice and participating in supervision. ESSENTIAL Degree level qualifications in the areas of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Health or equivalentMinimum 5 years’ experience working with children and/or young people with mental illness and demonstrated knowledge of mental health issuesDemonstrated experience in providing therapeutic non-clinical groups, practical assistance and case management to children and young people experiencing mental health issuesDemonstrated experience in the delivery of early intervention mental health strategies to culturally and linguistically diverse communities and an understanding of the diverse needs of clients.Understanding of safe work practices and management of risk.Demonstrated experience of working collaboratively as part of a multi- disciplinary team.Promotional and networking skills experience with child and youth service providers and other community networksA commitment to social justice principlesA current Australian Drivers’ License, current and verified Working With Children Check and National Police Check and adherence to WA’s mandatory vaccination policy. HOW TO APPLYPlease forward your CV and letter of application addressing the essential criteria 1-4 and 9 above by COB Tuesday 22nd February 2022.
