Manager, Strong Families and Communities – Permanent Full Time RoleWoodville Alliance (WA) is a not-for-profit community organisation based in Western Sydney and working primarily in Fairfield, Bankstown, Auburn and Liverpool. PROGRAM OBJECTIVEWoodville Alliance’s Community Initiatives Team provides a range of community development, outreach and education, early intervention and evidence based activities and programs for children, young people and families from diverse backgrounds in South West Sydney. The Strong Families and Communities Team provides targeted early intervention services and community development activities focused on improving the lives of children, young people and families.This role, reporting directly to the General Manager, Community Initiatives, leads a diverse team of social and community workers, program coordinators and administrators through provision of direction and support, development and implementation of various programs and initiatives, identification of gaps and opportunities in community strengthening and early intervention and ensuring the program adheres to relevant legislation, funding requirements, current evidence and best practice.MAIN DUTIESManage the development, delivery and continuous improvement of capacity building and strengthening communities programs that promote improved social and economic participationPromote active community engagement through consultation, participation and program co-design as relevantIdentify and pursue new opportunities to enhance services for children, young people and families in collaboration with the GM and CIT colleagues as appropriateEnsure the safe and effective functioning of the community centre in Carramar including rostering, infrastructure and planning to meet community needs and WA policies and proceduresProvide direction, supervision, guidance and support in the professional development of direct reports to ensure effective delivery of the business plan, programs and servicesPromote team collaboration and a culture of learning, evidence-based practice and innovationUndertake budgeting, monitor expenditure against the approved budget and ensure expenditure within the team is in line with delegation policy and approved budgetDevelop and maintain internal and external relationships and partnerships through collaboration with WA staff and other organisations and participation in networking/community events and sector forumsESSENTIALDegree level qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, Health, Education)At least three years’ experience in leading a team in a human service, early intervention, child, youth and family services or a similar settingDemonstrated strong leadership, managerial and partnership skills with a proven track record in meeting funding requirements and responding to community needStrong understanding of current evidence and best practice in early intervention and programs designed to promote strong families and the effective development and wellbeing of children and young peopleExperience in working with people from a broad range of backgrounds and cultures, including culturally and linguistically diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait IslanderAbility to identify emerging community needs and formulate appropriate service responsesHigh-level written, oral and interpersonal communication skillsStrong commitment to quality, ethical practice, social justice and work health and safetyA current NSW Driver’s licence and own vehicleA current and verified Working With Children Check and National Police CheckHOW TO APPLY Please click apply to forward your CV and letter of application addressing the essential criteria 1 to 4 listed above. Please note applications will not be progressed if they do not address the specified essential criteria.
